The most important event in human history was the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the propitiation for our sins. In Jesus Christ, we fully see God's love for us; it goes back to eternity past. When we see Jesus Christ, we see the Father.
There was no one found in heaven or on earth to
satisfy the righteousness of God. Only Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, was pure enough to cover the sins of every man, woman, boy and girl born over all these generations of this peopled earth. Foretold
When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, God made the following statement to Eve and the serpent. There is some controversy surrounding the interpretation of this statement. However, since God is Omniscient, knowing the end from the beginning, Christians see this statement as being the first prophecy of The Coming Messiah.Genesis 3:15
"And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
The serpent's seed represents rebellion and sin. The seed of the woman God promises will ultimately win, although the serpent has tried to alter God's purpose for man.
Adam lived many years after sinning in the garden. The Scriptures gives us to understand, "the wages of sin is death."
Man would suffer physical death but God provides a way for man not to suffer spiritual death as well.
Spiritual death is the death Adam suffered in the garden. Satan brought Adam and all of his descendents to dilemma on purpose. Satan (a created being) had been thrown out of Heaven; his purpose on earth is to steal, kill and destroy man.
